LAKEWOOD MAN CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ARSON

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on September 25, 2025, Tysan Davis, 36, of Lakewood, was charged with Aggravated Arson in connection with an incident that occurred in Lakewood on September 25, 2025.

On September 25, 2025, at approximately 4:45 p.m., the Lakewood Township Police Department and Fire Departments responded to the Fairway Villas for a report of a structure fire.  Upon arrival emergency personnel observed a pile of clothing smoldering and an air conditioner condenser on fire.  Emergency personnel extinguished the fire.  A thorough and extensive investigation conducted by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Arson Squad, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Lakewood Township Police Department Detective Bureau, and Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office, revealed that the fire originated at the southwest corner of the concrete patio of the residence.  The cause of the fire was determined to be incendiary through the use of an open flame to ignite liquid.

Through continuing investigation, Davis was identified as the individual responsible for setting the fire.  Davis was taken into custody at Lakewood Township Police Department Headquarters.  He was transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he is presently lodged pending a detention hearing.

Prosecutor Billhimer commends the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Arson Squad, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Lakewood Township Police Department Detective Bureau, and Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office, for their collaborative assistance in connection with this investigation.
