JACKSON TOWNSHIP MAN INDICTED FOR MURDER

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on February 18, 2026, Shaquille Green, 30, of Jackson Township, was indicted by a Grand Jury sitting in Ocean County on the charges of Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, all in connection with the death of Toraya Reid, 28, also of Jackson, on September 6, 2025, in Jackson Township.

On September 6, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Officers from the Jackson Township Police Department received a 911 call in reference to shots fired and an unresponsive female in the roadway at the Paragon Apartment Complex on Larsen Road.  Responding Officers found a deceased female who had apparently sustained multiple gunshot wounds laying near the exit of the apartment complex.  The victim was later identified as Ms. Reid.  Additional responding Officers observed a male – later identified as Green – running on North New Prospect Road; Green was taken into custody without incident and transported to Jackson Township Police Headquarters.

A subsequent investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Jackson Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, identified Green – who had been in a dating relationship with Ms. Reid – as the individual responsible for her death.  Green was charged accordingly; he was transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he remains detained pending trial.

Prosecutor Billhimer acknowledges the diligent efforts of Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Christopher Heisler who presented the case to the Grand Jury on behalf of the State, and commends the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Jackson Township Police Department, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office, for their collaborative efforts in connection with this investigation.

The charges referenced above are merely accusations and the press and public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
