Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on May 21, 2026, Stephen Intrieri, 44, of Mount Laurel, was charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking and Impersonation in connection with events that occurred in Jackson Township in October 2025.
An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Economic Crimes Squad revealed that the victim took out a Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) against his property in the amount of $300,000, intending to invest some of the proceeds with Intrieri. Continuing investigation revealed that Intrieri completed the loan application in the victim’s name but utilized his own contact information – thereby allowing only Intrieri to have access to the HELOC. Intrieri proceeded to transfer the funds into an E-Trade account which the victim had no access to. Additionally, in furtherance of his fraudulent activity, it was discovered that Intrieri had been communicating with the victim – purporting to be the mortgage company. On May 21, 2026, Intrieri was charged with the crimes referenced above, and his name was entered into the National Crime Information Center database.
Anyone in possession of information concerning this investigation is urged to contact Detective Kyle Richardella of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027, extension 3224.
Prosecutor Billhimer commends the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Economic Crimes Squad and Jackson Township Police Department for their combined efforts in connection with this investigation.
The charges referenced above are merely accusations and the press and public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
