BARNEGAT MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER TO REMAIN DETAINED PENDING TRIAL

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on November 27, 2023, the Honorable Guy P. Ryan, P.J.Cr.P., ordered that Michael Mulgrew, 34, of Barnegat, shall remain detained in the Ocean County Jail pending trial on charges of Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, in connection with the stabbing deaths of his parents, Eugene Mulgrew, 71, and Cheryl Mulgrew, 69, both of Barnegat, on November 2, 2023, in Barnegat.

 

Mulgrew has been lodged in the Ocean County Jail since his apprehension on November 2, 2023.  The detention hearing was handled by Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Mara Brater.

 

The charges referenced above are merely accusations and the press and public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
