BRICK TOWNSHIP MAN CHARGED WITH LEAVING THE SCENE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH RESULTING IN SERIOUS BODILY INJURY AND ASSAULT BY AUTO

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on November 9, 2025, William Donohoe, 43, of Brick Township, was charged with Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury and Assault by Auto, in connection with a motor vehicle crash that occurred in Brick Township on November 8, 2025.

On November 8, 2025, at approximately 10:55 p.m., Officers from the Brick Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of Midstreams Road and Midstreams Place.  An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad and Brick Township Police Department revealed that a Nissan Rogue was traveling northbound on Midstreams Place, when it made a left-hand turn onto Midstreams Road and stuck an electric bicycle being operated by a fifteen-year-old male.  The Nissan failed to stop and continued traveling westbound on Midstreams Road.  As a result of the crash, the victim was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where he remains hospitalized in stable condition.

As responding Officers were rendering aid to the victim, they observed Donohoe walking towards the crash site from a significant distance away.  Continuing investigation revealed that Donohoe was the individual operating the Nissan that struck the electric bicycle and left the scene.

Officers observed that Donohoe appeared to be intoxicated.  Based upon those observations, Officers attempted to administer standardized field sobriety tests (FSTs) to Donohoe.  Donohoe was unable to successfully perform the FSTs; as such, he was charged with Driving Under the Influence and placed under arrest.  Donohoe was thereafter transported to Ocean University Medical Center in Brick Township, where a draw of his blood was obtained pursuant to court-authorized warrant.  The results of the blood draw remain pending.  Donohoe was subsequently transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he is presently lodged pending a detention hearing.

Prosecutor Billhimer commends the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit- Vehicular Homicide Squad, Brick Township Police Department and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, for their collaborative efforts in connection with this investigation.
