Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced on November 1, 2025, Marlene Rodriguez, 20, of Brick Township, was charged with Attempted Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, all in connection with an incident that occurred in Brick Township on November 1, 2025.
On November 1, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Officers from the Brick Township Police Department responded to a residence on Burke Lane relative to a 911 call. Responding Officers found a two-year-old male child with a stab wound to his chest. The child was transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune, where he is listed in stable condition.
An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Brick Township Police Department Detective Bureau, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, revealed that Rodriguez – the victim’s sister – was the individual responsible for the stabbing. Rodriguez was taken into custody at Brick Township Police Headquarters and transported to the Ocean County Jail, where she is presently lodged pending a detention hearing.
Prosecutor Billhimer commends the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Brick Township Police Department Detective Bureau, Brick Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, for their collective efforts in connection with this investigation.
The charges referenced above are merely accusations and the press and public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
