MATAWAN MAN SENTENCED TO STATE PRISON FOR DISTRIBUTION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND INVASION OF PRIVACY

El fiscal del condado de Ocean, Bradley D.. Billhimer anunció que en enero 3, 2025, Michael Mattina, 59, de Matawan, fue sentenciado por el Honorable Guy P. ryan, P.J.Cr.P., a cinco años en la prisión estatal de Nueva Jersey (NJSP) – con un período de cinco años de inelegibilidad para la libertad condicional – relative to his previously entered guilty plea to Distribution of Child Pornography. Además, Judge Ryan sentenced Mattina to four years NJSP relative to his previously entered guilty plea to Invasion of Privacy. Las sentencias correrán consecutivamente.. Judge Ryan also ordered that Mattina be subject to Megan’s Law and Parole Supervision for Life. Mattina pled guilty to both charges before Judge Ryan on July 22, 2024.

 

An investigation conducted by the Brick Township Police Department Detective Bureau and Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit revealed that Mattina secretly recorded six female victims, including one 16 year-old victim, utilizing a hidden camera located in the bathroom of a residence in Brick Township. Further investigation revealed that Mattina posted the videos of the victims on two adult websites.

 

En Agosto 17, 2020, Mattina was charged with several counts of Invasion of Privacy and Distribution of Obscene Materials. Además, Mattina was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Manufacturing Child Pornography, and Distribution of Child Pornography. En esa fecha, Mattina surrendered himself to Brick Township Police Headquarters and was served with the charges via summons pending upcoming appearances in Ocean County Superior Court.

 

Prosecutor Billhimer acknowledges the diligent efforts of Senior Assistant Prosecutor Shanon Chant-Berry who handled the case on behalf of the State, and commends the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit and Brick Township Police Department Detective Bureau and for their cooperative efforts in connection with this investigation, leading to Mattina’s guilty pleas and now his state prison sentence.
