FARMINGDALE MAN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING, LURING, ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD, CRIMINAL SEXUAL CONTACT, ELUDING, RESISTING ARREST, AND OBSTRUCTION TO REMAIN DETAINED PENDING TRIAL

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on April 10, 2024, the Honorable Wendel E. Daniels, J.S.C. (retired and temporarily assigned on recall), ordered that Quamel Benton, 35, of Farmingdale, shall remained detained in the Burlington County Jail on charges of Attempted Kidnapping, Luring, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Criminal Sexual Contact, two counts of Eluding, Resisting Arrest, and Obstruction of Justice, all in connection with a series of incidents that occurred on March 21, 2024, into the early morning hours of March 22, 2024, in Lakewood and Toms River.

 

The detention hearing was handled by Assistant Ocean County Prosecutor Victoria Veni.

 

On March 28, 2024, Benton was ordered to remain detained in the Burlington County Jail on unrelated charges of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Endangering an Injured Victim, and five counts of Cruelty and Neglect of Children, arising out of incidents occurring in Willingboro Township, Burlington County, on March 21, 2024.

 

The charges referenced above are merely accusations and the press and public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
