Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on September 11, 2025, at approximately 8:45 p.m., Officers from the Toms River Township Police Department were summoned to the area of Hooper Avenue and Fischer Boulevard for a report of a serious motor vehicle crash.
An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad and Toms River Township Police Department revealed that a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox – operated by a 46-year-old male driver and containing a front seat passenger and a four-year-old rear seat passenger- was traveling southbound on Hooper Avenue when it crossed over the grass median and struck a 2025 Toyota Rav 4 – operated by a 28-year-old female As a result of the crash, the Toyota rolled onto its passenger side and came to a rest in the wooded area on the eastside of the roadway.
The female driver of the Toyota was pronounced deceased at the scene. The front seat passenger of the Chevrolet was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where she was pronounced deceased. The driver and the four-year-old passenger of the Chevrolet were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment, where they are listed in stable condition.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad and Toms River Township Police Department.
