Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on February 27, 2025, James Royle, 68, of New Egypt, was charged with Criminal Sexual Contact in connection with an incident that occurred on February 14, 2025 in Jackson Township.
On February 26, 2025, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and Jackson Township Police Department were contacted by a female victim who claimed that she was touched inappropriately during a chiropractic adjustment by Royle – a chiropractor and owner of Royle Sports Chiropractic in Jackson.
An investigation by the aforementioned agencies revealed that on February 14, 2025, the victim went to her scheduled appointment at Royle’s office. During the course of the chiropractic adjustment, Royle touched the victim in an inappropriate manner that was unrelated to the treatment.
On February 27, 2025, Royle was charged with Criminal Sexual Contact. On that same date, Royle surrendered himself to Jackson Township Police Headquarters, where he was charged on a summons pending future appearances in Ocean County Superior Court.
“If anyone has had a similar experience with Royle, I urge you to contact Detective Cassidy Goebel of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732- 929-2027, extension 3124, or Detective Brian Baranyay of the Jackson Township Police Department at 732- 833-3010,” Prosecutor Billhimer stated.
Prosecutor Billhimer commends the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and Jackson Township Police Department for their collaborative efforts in connection with this investigation.
The charges referenced above are merely accusations and the press and public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
