Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on June 26, 2023, the Honorable Lisa A. Puglisi, J.S.C., ordered that John Filistovich, 59, of Lakewood, shall remain detained in the Ocean County Jail pending trial on the charge of Murder, in connection with the death of Betty Perry, 60, also of Lakewood, which occurred on May 30, 2023, in Lakewood.
Originally taken into custody in Salisbury, Maryland on June 1, 2023, Filistovich was extradited from Maryland to New Jersey, and has been lodged in the Ocean County Jail since June 12, 2023. The detention hearing was handled by Assistant Prosecutor Emma Hurst.
The charges referenced above are merely accusations and the press and public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
