MONMOUTH COUNTY MAN CHARGED WITH NARCOTICS AND WEAPONS OFFENSES

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force collaborated with Detectives from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Gang Task Force to investigate the distribution of illegal narcotics in Ocean County.

A two-month long investigation revealed that Harry Clayton, 45, of Ocean Township (Monmouth County), was distributing cocaine in Ocean County.  On March 12, 2026, Detectives from the aforementioned agencies established mobile surveillance on Clayton.  Detectives observed Clayton at a residence in Neptune City.  Clayton then exited the residence and left the area in a motor vehicle.   A short time later, Detectives from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office effectuated a motor vehicle stop on the vehicle Clayton was operating.  As Clayton was ordered out of the vehicle, Detectives observed him attempting to obscure items in his pants before exiting the vehicle; Clayton obstructed Detectives’ efforts to secure the items from his person.  Clayton was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.  Detectives then executed a court-authorized search warrant for Clayton’s motor vehicle.  As a result, Detectives seized a quantity of heroin, a Smith and Wesson .380 caliber handgun, hollow point ammunition, and $1,800 in United States currency.  Detectives also seized approximately 24 grams of crack cocaine from Clayton’s person.

Clayton was charged with Possession of More than One-Half Ounce of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute Within 1000 Feet of a School, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Heroin, Possession of a Weapon During a Controlled Dangerous Substance Offense, being a Certain Person Not to Possess a Weapon, Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Tampering with Evidence, and Obstruction of Justice.  Clayton was transported to the Ocean County Jail and subsequently released as a consequence of New Jersey Bail Reform.

Prosecutor Billhimer commends the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Asset Forfeiture Unit, and Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Gang Task Force, for their collective assistance in connection with this investigation.

The charges referenced above are merely accusations and the press and public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
