First Assistant Prosecutor Michael T. Nolan, Jr., graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Arts (magna cum laude) in Political Science in 1992. He attended Seton Hall University School of Law where he was a member of the Legislative Journal, authoring a published Note on New Jersey’s death penalty statute in 1994. He earned his law degree (cum laude) in 1995 and was admitted to the New Jersey Bar that same year.

 

First Assistant Prosecutor Nolan began his legal career as a Law Clerk to the Honorable John D’Amico, J.S.C. (now retired) in Monmouth County for the 1995-1996 court term, and then as an Assistant Ocean County Prosecutor from January 1997 through June 1998. Mr. Nolan thereafter practiced law at Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti in Morristown and Trenton before opening his own private law practice in Brick in 1999 — focusing primarily on criminal defense litigation. He merged his practice with that of Kevin Wm. Kelly, Esq., in 2001, forming the firm known as Kelly & Nolan, with a continued focus on criminal defense. Mr. Nolan resumed his role as a sole practitioner in 2013 with Mr. Kelly’s retirement, and continued in this capacity through October 2018 when he was appointed First Assistant Ocean County Prosecutor by Prosecutor Billhimer.

 

First Assistant Prosecutor Nolan is a member of the Ocean and Monmouth County Bar Associations, and served on the District IIIA Ethics Committee from 2014 through 2018. Mr. Nolan is currently the Vice President of the First Assistant Prosecutors Association of New Jersey.
